Simple Corn Bread for Multiple Applications

This is just a simple recipe I use for making bread crumbs for crab cakes, and I even mix some into mac and cheese for some added sweetness and crunch.

What you’ll need.

  • 1 1/4 c All Purpose Flour
  • 1 1/4 c Corn Meal
  • 1/3 c Sugar
  • 4 Tbsp Light Brown Sugar
  • 1 1/4 Tsp Salt
  • 1 Tbsp Baking Powder
  • 1 Tsp Black Pepper
  • 1 1/2 c Milk
  • 1/2 c Melted Butter, extra butter for greasing
  • 2 Eggs

Let’s get baking

  1. Preheat your over to 350 degrees Ferenheight and grease your pan, I used a 9 by 9 Pyrex, but you can use what ever you want such as a cast iron pan or loaf pan.
  2. In a large bowl combine all your dry ingredients making sure everything is evenly incorporated. Make a well in the center and add all your wet ingredients and mix until everything is fully incorporated
  3. Transfer batter to your prepared baking vessel and put in your oven and bake until a toothpick comes out clean, for me this took about 45 minutes.
  4. Allow to cool and your good to go. Enjoy this bread plan, toasted with butter or use in what ever dish you can imagine.
